The children were engaged in a general knowledge game when I entered the classroom this morning since I was running late. The game covered a variety of topics, including countries, numbers, places, and more. When I realised the teams were girls versus boys and the girls were losing to the boys, I noticed the girls’ faces were a little off and realised they were becoming upset that the boys were winning. It even got to the point where Matua Harley had to call out one of the girls’ attitude and end all of the fun. Matua Harley welcomed me and sat me down to observe one round of the game. We carried on performing the one girl had to leave the game for a while to get some fresh air. I was able to participate in the game after that round even though we lost and won a few games. We said our goodbyes and received chocolate on the way out of maori class, which made me sad because it was the last day.
